Doesn’t Paul curse anyone — even an angel from heaven — who preaches another gospel? Doesn’t that put the whole Restoration under a curse?
Paul is protecting the gospel of Christ crucified — not banning angels, prophets, or more scripture. Moroni brought a record that preaches that same Christ. The New Testament even expects an angel to carry the everlasting gospel in the last days.
Open answersCritics say Latter-day Saints worship ‘another Jesus.’ Is the Jesus of the Restoration a different person from the Jesus of the New Testament?
We worship the Jesus who was born of Mary, crucified under Pontius Pilate, rose the third day, and will come again. ‘Another Jesus’ is a slogan for ‘not Nicene.’ Paul was warning against a Christ emptied of the cross, not against reading the Bible without the later creeds.
Open answersDo Latter-day Saints teach that Jesus and Satan are brothers — and doesn’t that insult Christ?
Every Christian who believes God created the angels already believes Jesus and Lucifer have the same Father in some sense. We do not make them peers. Jesus is Jehovah, the Creator. Lucifer is a fallen angel who lost. The ‘brothers’ line is a bumper sticker, not our doctrine.
Open answersIsaiah says ‘before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.’ Doesn’t that forbid exaltation, the Godhead as three, and everything Latter-day Saints teach?
Isaiah is not writing a Nicene tract against theosis. He is mocking idols and rival nations’ gods. Israel’s Lord has no competitor. That is Restoration doctrine. It is also why we still pray only to the Father in the name of the Son.
Open answersDo Latter-day Saints worship Joseph Smith, put him on the same level as Jesus, or think they cannot be saved without him?
No. We worship the Father in the name of the Son. Joseph is a prophet, a witness, a martyr — never a savior. The hymn is honor, not liturgy. If your pastor can honor Paul without worshiping Paul, you already understand the difference.
Open answersDid Joseph Smith teach that God the Father was once a man, and does that mean Latter-day Saints worship an exalted human instead of the eternal God of the Bible?
The couplet is famous. The canon is quieter. We worship the Eternal Father. The Bible already says the Son became man. Little has been revealed about the Father’s past, and it is not the message we preach.
Open answersHebrews says God ‘hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son.’ Doesn’t that close the age of prophets?
Hebrews 1 exalts the Son above angels. It does not fire the apostles He then sent. The same New Testament that says ‘spoken by his Son’ then spends twenty-seven books recording what that Son kept saying through prophets, seers, and an apocalypse.
Open answersJude says we should contend for the faith ‘once delivered unto the saints.’ Doesn’t that mean the gospel was finished in the first century?
Jude is telling a church to fight for the apostolic gospel against perversion — in a letter that then quotes 1 Enoch as prophecy. ‘Once delivered’ is not ‘never spoken again.’ It is ‘do not replace Christ with a counterfeit.’
Open answersEvangelicals and Catholics often say that rejecting the Nicene and Athanasian creeds means you are not Christian. Is that the Bible’s test?
The first Christians were called Christians in Antioch, not in Nicaea. The New Testament’s tests are Jesus is the Christ, come in the flesh, risen from the dead. Homoousios is a later Greek tool. Refusing the tool is not leaving the family.
Open answersDo Latter-day Saints believe God lives on a planet called Kolob, and doesn’t that prove we worship a space-god instead of the biblical Lord?
Kolob is a name in the Book of Abraham for a star nearest to the throne of God — a way of saying God governs creation from the highest order. It is not His street address, and it is not our object of worship. The Bible already talks as if God has a throne, a right hand, and a heaven of heavens.
Open answersDeuteronomy 18 says if a prophecy does not come to pass, the Lord did not speak it. Didn’t Joseph Smith fail that test?
The Bible’s own prophets include Jonah, whose forty-day clock did not fall because Nineveh repented. Jeremiah 18 says God can withhold a promised disaster. Joseph is tested the way the Bible tests prophets — not the way a countercult checklist tests them.
Open answersSome Christians say Mormons think Jesus is only a prophet, a created being, or a lesser god — not the Lord of the Old Testament. Is that true?
We confess Jesus as Jehovah, the God of Israel, the Creator, the I AM, crucified and risen. Distinguishing Him from the Father is the New Testament’s own picture, not a demotion.
