Church finances and lay ministry
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Bishoprics, Relief Society presidencies, and youth leaders donate their time. Missionaries pay to serve. A small number of general leaders leave careers and receive a living allowance so they can serve full time — a Pauline pattern, not a scandal. Control is a caricature of covenants freely made and freely left.
If the Church wanted your money more than your soul, it would not send your children to serve at their own expense.
- The lay ministry is the actual texture of ward life.
- Paul already authorized living of the gospel for some.
- Agency includes the right to walk away; millions stay.
